Hand-painted in luminous gold on a midnight-blue fan, this Five-Thunder (Wulei) Ritual Fan carries five distinct thunder talisman seals. In folk Taoist practice, these seals “call lightning authority” to protect, cleanse, and uplift. Use and display ideas below are traditional and symbolic, offered to help you put the fan to work in everyday life:

  1. Evil-warding on the go – Open the fan and make a few slow strokes when walking at night or entering heavy-yin places (e.g., hospitals). It’s believed to repel malefic spirits, dispel sha, and shield the aura.

  2. Home sha cure / space guard – Hang the fan (often tied with a red cord) inside the main door or a window to stabilize household qi and calm sharp/hostile forms (bedroom facing a bathroom, outside corners aiming at the home, etc.).

  3. Personal protection & luck – Keep at the desk or carry to strengthen presence and turn luck toward safety and opportunity; some believe it can attract wealth luck by clearing obstacles.

  4. Field purification – For a new home/office, walk clockwise and fan gently through rooms to refresh the magnetic field and balance yin–yang.

  5. Ritual support – In formal rites the Five-Thunder fan is used with talismans, mudras, steps, and mantras (tap, point, sweep, cut, or trace) to symbolically drive out harm, aid healing, invite fortune, or harmonize relations.
